On June 2, the Li Xiao Hongshan Family Study Camp, jointly organized by the Han Culture Committee of the China Zhu Xi Society and the Institute of Sinology of Xiamen University, officially opened at Hongshan Academy. Three families participated in this study activity. Through courses such as “Etiquette Class”, “Filial Piety Class”, “Dining Etiquette Class”, and “Meditation Class”, parents and children learned about traditional Chinese etiquette, filial piety, and excellent family traditions together, and enhanced parent-child relationships through performances and games. They gained happiness from growth in the process of mutual companionship and joint learning, and spent a unique Children's Day.
On September 29, 2020, under the unified organization of the Xiamen Hongshan Charity Association, 48 impoverished patients with eye diseases from four towns in Xiamen's Xiang'an District and some towns in Tong'an successfully underwent eye surgery at the Xiamen Eye Center. This is part of the “Love to Let You See” Brightness Recovery Project series of public welfare activities. By working with the Xiamen University Affiliated Xiamen Eye Center, they collectively contributed love to help impoverished elderly groups undergo public welfare cataract and pterygium surgeries.

With the rise of hanfu culture, the photography industry has gradually sparked a national style craze. Journalists searching online using keywords such as “hanfu”, “ancient style”, and “traditional costume” found that there are more than 30 photography studios in Xiamen offering national style photography services, and over 10 hanfu experience merchants allowing consumers to take photos themselves. Most photography studios offer fixed shooting packages, while some provide customized services based on consumer needs, such as the number of outfits, the number of photos, and whether outdoor shooting is included.
On the afternoon of June 4, the “Egret Dance Neon Clothes · Jinxiu Xiamen Dragon Boat Festival Hanfu Cultural Festival” concluded successfully at Xiamen Baolong City. As part of the “Internet Chinese Festivals” series, the Dragon Boat Festival Hanfu Cultural Festival was guided by the Cyberspace Administration of Xiamen Municipal Party Committee and co-organized by Migu Animation Co., Ltd., Xiamen Hanfu Culture Exchange Association, and the ChinaJoy Organizing Committee. The event also hosted the preliminary round of the 2023 ChinaJoy Luoshang Huafu New Talent Competition (Xiamen Station) and the first round of the Xiamen First Lotus Fairy Hanfu Supermodel Competition.
“Since you have taken refuge in the treasure, you have received salvation, and the merits obtained are inconceivable.” Before the end of the refuge ceremony, Venerable Fayun, the abbot of Hongshan Temple, instructed: “From this moment onward, everyone has received refuge and become formal Buddhist disciples. You should establish correct knowledge and views, and develop a mind to support the treasure. You must integrate Buddhism into life and act according to the requirements of refuge at all times. Remember, taking refuge is the beginning of studying Buddhism, just like planting a bodhi seed in your heart. You should constantly strive to cultivate and let the bodhi mind take root and sprout.”
The Laba Festival falls in early winter, which is the season for spring growth, summer flourishing, autumn harvest, and winter storage. Winter is the best time for tonics, and porridge dishes are especially suitable for nourishing the spleen and stomach. At the same time, “Laba” is also a grand festival in Buddhism – the day Buddha attained enlightenment. Since ancient times, temples have had the tradition of cooking porridge for offerings and distributing it to the poor on the eighth day of the twelfth lunar month. This year, Xiamen Hongshan Temple and Xiamen Hongshan Charity Association will jointly hold a “Laba Charity Event” on the eighth day of the twelfth lunar month (December 3), including activities such as porridge distribution, medicine donations, and charity medical consultations.
The “Our Festival Qixi” Egret Island 2023 Traditional Culture Experience Series, guided by the Xiamen Siming District Xiamen Port Street, was organized by the Xiamen Hongshan Academy (Hongshan Community Academy) and co-hosted by the Xiamen Siming District Hanfu Association and Youxiake Travel Network. Moreover, this was the first “Hongshan Barter Charity Sale” organized by the Hongshan Charity Association. Participants could choose to exchange items or bring idle household items to swap for desired items, or sell them for charity. This barter sale allowed more people to participate in public welfare and charity work.
The “Love to Let You See” Brightness Recovery Project series of public welfare activities, under the coordination of Venerable Fayun, the abbot of Xiamen Hongshan Temple and president of the Hongshan Charity Association, began implementation in May 2017. As a routine public welfare activity of the Charity Association, it is conducted in batches every year. This batch of patients undergoing surgery this year is the first batch (the first batch of three patients had successful surgeries in May), totaling 48 people, including 37 with cataracts and one with pterygium.
