Orbo, the wife of Khan Anba Hai, incited her grandson Tari Hu Tai to send messengers to the Tatar tribe, attempting to use the Tatars to eliminate his rival for the khan's position. After Temujin was betrothed, he stayed at his father-in-law's home according to custom. His father Yesukhei and his companion Todot returned to the Mongolian grasslands and attended a banquet hosted by the Tatars. Zhalin Bulhe, the son of Temujin Uge, took the opportunity to poison the wine. Before dying, Yesukhei left a will for Temujin, instructing him to capture the Tatars and kill all men taller than a cart wheel when seeking revenge. After Yesukhei's death, Orbo, the grandmother of the Tai Chi Wu clan, convened a meeting of the clan's nobles, attempting to secure the khan's position for her grandson Tari Hu Tai. This met opposition from many, including the Jouerqi clan, forcing Orbo to abandon her plan. Under Tari Hu Tai's instigation and threats, the nobles and their followers betrayed Temujin's and children, including Yesukhei's own brother Dali Tai, who did not dare to openly oppose.

Today, the impression that many people have of hanfu wearers as if they are acting in TV dramas is a result of the early behaviors of the hanfu community, yet it has become one of the main reasons for criticizing the public's ignorance. The first hanfu merchant, Qiu Jinchao from “Cai Wei Workshop” in Wuhan, uploaded the first set of contemporary hanfu product photos on October 30, 2003. “Cai Wei Workshop” was also the first hanfu merchant in the hanfu movement.

With the rapid development of society, more and more young people enjoy watching various TV series or movies on or mobile devices. Among these, period dramas are one of the most popular genres today. However, the costumes seen in these dramas are often not authentic historical garments but artistic renditions of ancient clothing. These period costumes focus more on time periods and artistic effects, so they are not considered hanfu. Period costumes are mostly used for film and television performances, photography, and stage performances.

Tai Chi Wu's leader, Tari Hu Tai, led his troops to attack Temujin's . To divert the enemy, Temujin fled into the Burkan Mountain. Tari Hu Tai surrounded the mountain for nine days and nine nights, forcing Temujin to leave the mountains and be captured alive. Tari Hu Tai intended to use Temujin's head to worship heaven and the mountains, but Temujin escaped after injuring his guard, Todot. The slave family of the Tai Chi Wu clan, Suo Erhan Shila, protected Temujin, and Suo Erhan Shila's daughter, Hada An, became Temujin's lover. Temujin narrowly escaped death and coincidentally met his childhood friend Jamukha, with whom he renewed their friendship. Subsequently, Boerchi, Zelme, and others joined Temujin.

In the autumn of 1162, Yesukhei, the leader of the Mongol Kiyad tribe, defeated the masked men who were abducting brides on the grasslands and rescued a beautiful woman named Hoelun from the Hongjila tribe. From then on, he gained a young and beautiful wife who would become famous in history—Genghis Khan's mother. The following year, Yesukhei captured the leader of the Tatar tribe, Temujin Uge, and coincidentally, his son was born at the same time. To celebrate the victory, Yesukhei named his son “Temujin.” At the age of nine, Temujin formed a sworn brotherhood (Anda) with Jamukha of the Jadaran tribe. Soon after, his father took him to the Hongjila tribe to propose marriage. De Schian, the leader of the Hongjila tribe, voluntarily offered his daughter Borte to Temujin.

When Temujin was eight years old, he went to the Hongjila tribe to marry Borte. De Schian and his wife escorted Temujin and Borte back to the Mongolian grasslands. The leader of the Merkit tribe, Toqto'a, attempted to kidnap Temujin's wife but failed. De Schian's wife gave Hoelun a black sable fur coat, a relic of Khan Anba Hai. Hoelun instructed Temujin to this valuable gift to Yesukhei's friend, the leader of the Kereyid tribe, Toghrul Khan (later known as Wang Khan), to gain future support. Toghrul Khan promised to help Temujin gather the scattered people.
