Do you, who love Hanfu, have the trouble of not knowing what kind of makeup to wear when going out? Today, I will teach you an ancient-style makeup that is suitable for wearing Hanfu.
In ancient-style makeup, eyebrows are the most important part. If they are not well-drawn, it can easily affect the overall appearance. First, let's start with the eyebrows. Choose an eyebrow pencil that is slightly lighter than your hair color to avoid looking too harsh.
When drawing eyebrows, note that the beginning of the eyebrow should be slightly lower than the end. The peak of the eyebrow should be softened and not have sharp angles. Draw a natural, long eyebrow shape to make the eyebrow curve as natural as possible. This will give you the charm of ancient style, gentle and graceful~
Next comes the highlight—eyeshadow. First, follow the universal rule for all eyeshadows by using a light color to create a base. Use an eyeshadow brush to dip into a light brown eyeshadow and apply it over a large area of the eye socket to create a deep-set eye look, which also makes it easier to blend in subsequent colors.
Next, use a bright red eyeshadow to deepen the eye socket. Focus on the crease of the eyelid and the outer corner of the eye, blending continuously to make it look natural. Blend it upwards into the eye socket for a seamless transition; also, lightly apply it to the lower eyelid, ensuring it blends naturally.
Then, use a small brush to dip into a brownish-red eyeshadow and apply it to the outer corner and the base of the eyelashes to create depth in the eye makeup, a technique also known as the “eye enlargement method.”
Use your finger to apply a golden shimmer eyeshadow to the center of the eyelid to highlight and make the eyes look more lively. To make your eyes appear larger, draw a thin line along the lower eyelid, about 2-3 millimeters from the base of the lashes, using a very fine eyebrow pencil, and blend it naturally.
Use an eyeshadow brush to apply a champagne-colored eyeshadow to the lower eyelid to create a beautiful under-eye highlight, naturally enlarging the eyes. Take a small brush and dip it into a sparkly watercolor to highlight the inner corner of the eyes, making them look bigger and more beautiful.
Next, take a blush brush and apply a bright red eyeshadow as a blush. Apply it diagonally downward at a 45-degree angle from the lower eyelid, then blend it naturally. Draw a C-shape from the lower eyelid to the eye socket, blending it until it reaches below the eye, creating a delicate under-eye blush to make the makeup look charming.
The eye makeup is almost complete. Next, for the eyeliner, use an eyeliner brush dipped in black to outline the latter half of the upper eyelid, drawing a slightly upward-curving line, and fill in the front half with liquid eyeliner. For the floral ornament on the forehead, you can use a tattoo sticker that comes with the Hanfu or use an eyeliner brush dipped in lipstick, preferably a peach-colored liquid eyeliner, to draw two opposite small question marks on the forehead, which is also very simple.
Finally, choose a lipstick that matches the makeup color, apply a little contouring, and apply shadow to areas of the face that appear larger to create a refined ancient beauty.
