On the morning of the 8th, the “Continuing the Old Year, Welcoming the New” series of events for the 2020 Spring Festival officially kicked off in the Cultural Square. Dozens of members from the County Zi Jin Hanfu Club, dressed in traditional Hanfu such as ruqun (robe-skirt sets), zhidu (straight robes), and daopao (Taoist-style robes), held a themed “Hanfu Fluttering to Welcome the New Year” ancient-style Hanfu parade. Holding paper umbrellas and wearing fluttering garments, they started from the Cultural Square, walked along the Shanmen Bridge down to the Waterfront Platform, and arrived at County Front Street. With the breeze blowing, their skirts swayed gracefully, fully displaying the charm of Hanfu, as if they were under a spotlight attracting passersby to stop and admire. The Hanfu performers also showcased traditional arts such as guzheng, guqin, and tea ceremonies along the street, making it a feast for the eyes for the citizens. “We should celebrate our traditional festivals well and wear our traditional clothing well,” said Ms. Huang, a Hanfu enthusiast who participated in the event. She believes that Hanfu and Han culture have a long history and are very charming, and during such festive occasions like the Spring Festival, they should attract more attention and love.
On September 9, 2009, the 50th Joyful Chinese New Year Temple Fair activity, a grand performance filled with ancient Chinese culture was staged brilliantly in Buenos Aires National Park Square, Argentina. Due to his genuine love for Hanfu, Sun Haotian joined Guoxue Zhai during his college years, which later directly led to the establishment of the “Zhao Hua Ancient Style Society” at his school. He also actively participated in Hanfu club activities in Beijing and Nanjing, interacting with Hanfu enthusiasts across the country. “My most memorable experience was when I participated in the West Lake Hanfu Culture Week for the first time as an organizer. Thousands of fellow enthusiasts gathered in Xitang, so many people wearing our traditional clothing in one place was visually stunning. During those days, I stayed in the ancient town and saw people with flowing robes, bowing and smiling politely. In the evenings, I could even see fellow enthusiasts playing zithers and flutes, truly delightful.”
Hanfu is a traditional Chinese attire used in ancient times for weddings, court ceremonies, sacrifices, and other major events, holding great significance. Nowadays, with the revival of traditional culture, Hanfu has also integrated into our daily lives. You can see young women in Hanfu while shopping or young men in Hanfu on campus. You might even see extreme sports enthusiasts skiing in Hanfu on short video platforms. However, due to the complexity of wearing Hanfu, many people are reluctant to wear it. Today, I will introduce several combinations of Hanfu and modern clothing, which are both beautiful and convenient to wear.
You can stroll with over 30 beautiful ladies in Hanfu on Bai Lü Zhou Island, watch them wave small red flags, sing “My Motherland and I,” perform classical dances such as “Singing in the Prosperous Tang Night,” and participate in parades and flash mobs. Moreover, the event site was accompanied by a variety of experiential activities. At the entrance square, there was a market with a wide range of Han-style accessories, such as hair ornaments, shawls, bags, shoes, and lip balms, attracting visitors to “shop.” On the grass near the entrance, there was an ancient-style sports event where visitors could experience the fun of ancient times through archery. Along the scenic area, scenes of “music, chess, calligraphy, and painting” were presented; at Shendan Rock, staff dressed as poet Li Bai would recite poetry, bridging the gap of time and interacting with the audience.
